Let’s go Long Beach State!

Wednesday, February 18, 2026

Written by Jakki Padilla, Communications Student Assistant

Long Beach State University (LBSU) let’s rejoice together—students and alumni—for an evening of school spirit and community, at our upcoming “Home at The Beach” celebration against UCI’s Anteaters!

This energy-fueled event starts at 6 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid. Organized by ASI President Sonny Ciampa, Beach Pride Events (BPE) and LBSU Athletics, Home at The Beach is meant to foster unity across generations of the Beach community and encourage campus pride.

“For months our students have been expressing they feel there is a lack of activity and campus spirit on campus,” said Ciampa. “Knowing this as ASI President I was determined to solve this issue by giving students a free Beach Pride Event to attend.”

Ciampa said the idea for the event began during his previous role as ASI senator for athletics, when he learned through a student interaction that the university’s traditional Homecoming celebration had been discontinued following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then, he said he has worked to reimagine what a homecoming could look like for a new generation of students and an opportunity to network and connect with our alumni while rallying unwavering support for our men’s basketball team.

Home at The Beach will feature carnival games, opportunities to highlight school spirit and a chance for attendees to gather before cheering on the men’s basketball team.

The first 100 students in attendance will receive a custom Beach towel and a meal ticket. Towels are limited to one per Beach student.

And the first 100 alumni to RSVP will receive a game ticket, a custom Beach towel and a meal ticket. Alumni may also buy one guest ticket, and children two or younger do not need one.

Let’s celebrate what connects us to the Beach family from currently enrolled students building their college experience to alumni who continue to carry that pride and our legacy beyond campus.
