Senate
The Senate is composed of student Senators elected each spring. There are two Senators from each of the 7 colleges and 6 at-large members, for a total of 20 Senators. The Senate is responsible for writing legislation, approving the actions of subsidiary boards, and authorizing the appropriation of funds. The Senate also serves as the Board of Directors of the corporation. Each year, new leaders develop new ideas and work hard to propel ASI to the next level of student service. The Senate is chaired by the ASI Executive Vice President, Samantha Valdez. You can reach them at Samantha.Valdez@csulb.edu.
Senate meets on every other Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Anna W. Ngai Alumni Center. To view their minutes and agendas, click here. The meetings are open to the public and begin with a general opinion period, during which members of the gallery can address the Senate. If you would like to connect further with a member of the Senate and are unable to attend the meeting, please use the form at the bottom of the page.
